NEET Result 2016 Online http://cbseresults.nic.in/neet/neet_2016.htm: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results of much-awaited National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test phases 1 and 2 today. The result was expected to release on August 17, that is, tomorrow but the Board has just released the result.

NEET has been under controversies and been a subject of political debate since it was first pitched in 2012. In fact, over 80 cases opposing the NEET was filed – two of these by state governments and the rest by private and minority institutes.
Private institutes opposed the test because they want a greater say in the content while minority institutions were worried whether they would be able to retain minority character or not.
NEET 2016 Cutoff
In the year 2013, it was necessary for the candidates to attain the minimum of marks at 50th Percentile. However, for the SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum marks at 40th percentile was to be attained. Then from the year 2014 onward, as per the guideline of MCI, 50% marks were required for the general category to qualify the examination. The candidates belonging reserved category needed to secure 40% only.

Therefore, AIPMT exam held on May 1 was considered NEET 1 and NEET 2 for those candidates who have not appeared in the first phase exam.
In NEET 1, six lakh candidates appeared while in NEET 2, four lakh aspirants gave examination.
CBSE has already released the answer keys of the exam. There were also reports of paper leak of the NEET 2 examination and a petition was filed in the Supreme Court demanding re-test. However, the Court refused to interfere in the plea.
